Guilford Residence

This circa 1780 shoreline home was bought by noted New York architect Monty Mitchell who wanted to increase the energy efficiency of the structure while absolutely maintaining its period charm. The existing wood siding was stripped and numerous structural framing repairs were made before installing an exterior insulation system which allowed the antique and unique interior finishes to remain while providing a tight building envelope. Custom milled cedar siding which matched the original details was installed along with custom wood windows which also mimicked the originals.
