Old Lyme Shores - New Construction
This seasonal cottage had seen its day and financially the scales were tipped in favor of knocking it down and starting fresh to get everything on the client’s wish list. Teaming up again with Point One Architects we had an ambitious 10-month timeframe to make it happen from demo to due date thanks to the beach association ‘hammer law.’ With one client living in Oregon and the other in Boston communication throughout the project needed to be handled a bit differently but adjustments were made and the process ran smoothly.
Although this was one of the smaller homes we’ve built from a square foot prospective, it was loaded with all of the custom touches and higher end finishes of the larger ones. Coffered ceilings, reclaimed wood beams, custom built-ins and window seats, heated tile floors, Gedney kitchen … and that’s just the interior! We were able to legally convert the ‘cottage’ from seasonal to year-round occupancy, allowing our clients to enjoy their home year-round for the first time.
